VanishBit Documentation
Everything you need to clean junk, protect your privacy, and make your traces vanish.
Introduction
VanishBit is a fast, private system cleaner for Windows. It removes temporary files, caches, logs and browsing traces to free disk space and protect your privacy — and it can securely shred files so they can't be recovered. Everything runs locally: no account, no cloud, no telemetry.
VanishBit shows you a full preview of what it will remove before anything is deleted. You are always in control.
Installation
- Download
VanishBit-Setup.exefrom the download section. - Run the installer. VanishBit installs per-user — no administrator rights required.

or run Uninstall.exe from the install folder.
Quick start
- Open VanishBit. In the left pane, tick the categories you want to clean (System, your browsers, Recycle Bin, …).
- Click Preview to see exactly which files would be removed and how much space you'd reclaim.
- Review the list, then click Clean to remove them.
Tip: start with Preview the first few times to get comfortable with what each cleaner touches.
What it cleans
VanishBit ships with a large library of cleaner definitions covering the operating system and many popular applications. Common examples include:
- System — temporary files, memory dumps, error reports, clipboard, thumbnail cache, logs.
- Web browsers — cache, cookies, history, sessions, form history, saved passwords (optional).
- Recycle Bin — permanently empty deleted items.
- Applications — caches and recent-file lists for many installed programs.
Preview vs Clean
Preview analyses your system and lists every file that would be removed, with the total recoverable size — without deleting anything. Clean performs the removal. This two-step flow means there are no surprises and no hidden background actions.
Secure shredding
Ordinary deletion leaves file contents on disk until they happen to be overwritten. VanishBit can shred files — overwriting them first — so they cannot be recovered with undelete tools.
Right-click a file/folder → Shred with VanishBit or File menu → Shred Files / Shred Folders
On SSDs, wear-levelling means overwriting is less deterministic than on traditional hard drives. For whole-disk guarantees, use full-disk encryption.
Wipe free space
To erase the remnants of files you deleted in the past (without shredding), enable System → Free disk space. VanishBit overwrites the unused areas of the drive so previously deleted data can no longer be recovered. This can take a while on large drives.
FAQ
Yes — completely free, with no ads, accounts or subscriptions.
Does VanishBit send any data online? No. VanishBit runs entirely on your machine. It does not contact the network and includes no telemetry. Online update checking is disabled — the app always reports that you have the latest version installed.
Do I need administrator rights? No. VanishBit installs per-user and runs as a standard user. Some system-wide cleaners may simply skip areas that require elevation.
Can cleaned files be recovered?Normal cleaning deletes files like the OS does. Use Shred or Wipe free space when you need removal beyond recovery.
Will it delete something important?Always run Preview first and review the list. VanishBit never removes anything until you click Clean.
